Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - What We Know So Far...

So, yesterday Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom landed on our screens for the first time and it's safe to say that the film has had a mixed reception.

Don't worry, this blog post won't contain any major spoilers, just an overview of what you can look to expect if you're heading out to watch this film!

The new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Poster

Back in December of last year we named Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as one of our Top 10 Must See Films of 2018. With some sceptics expressing the film looked like a "terrible idea" waaaay before it was even released, this sequel had it's work cut out to impress from day dot.

The first Jurassic Park film was released in 1993, and because this film was such a huge success, it would be fair to say that any sequel had a lot to live up to.

"It was the first, and only, Jurassic Park movie that should have ever been made." - Erik Kain

What do we know so far?

Directed by J.A. Bayona, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom follows Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they attempt to save the Dinosaurs from a Volcanic eruption at Jurassic World by taking them to a new sanctuary. A more sinister plot develops though, as Eli Mills unknowingly uses the pair's knowledge to advance his own plan.

Packed full of wonderfully clever Dino-Action, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom promises to be an installment to remember as the team uncover a conspiracy which threatens the entire planet's existence.

Jurassic World is Under Fire

Jurassic World may not be out of the woods yet when it comes to criticism. With some referring to the latest addition to the Jurassic series as possessing "passable set pieces", although "the plot however is contrived and the characters are fatigued." - Peter Bradshaw

Beyond the Critics

A lot can be said for critics looking too much into films, picking apart each and every scene. This film is not going to be quite like Jurassic Park because it isn't Jurassic Park. Although Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom may not be completely new in it's plot, characters and theme, the concept is still fresh and surely this should be celebrated?

The first Jurassic World film, released in 2015, was one of the most successful installments as it grossed a record breaking $500 million worldwide in it's opening weekend.

Have your say on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom...

I'd say give Fallen Kingdom a good chance and enjoy it for what it is... Okay, it's not the Jurassic experience, we get it - but with an awesome cast and some incredible CGI Dinos, this film is sure to be a firm family favourite for many years to come!
